No sooner had the idea of slowed light flashed into my consciousness than the last strongholds of materialism, with its rigid traditional conception, fell from my view of the cosmos. On my journey to dismantle the inherited system I saw clearly that what we call matter is not an independent substance or solid mass, as the senses would have us believe. In my view it is something like light, or energy, that has undergone a deliberate braking of its frequency so that it can appear in the world of the Witnessed. I found clearly that the First Source, majestic is His majesty, is absolute light and ceaseless flow. But for the worlds of Concretion to appear, meaning had to thicken into form. So I saw that the worlds condense through a law of lowering the speed of the divine luminous broadcast, so that they come to be, and so that existence appears through God’s Name the Manifest in forms that existing things, in consequence, see and sense. Material density is nothing but a state of deceleration. It allows the relative being to exist in the first place, and also to test its will against this very density. This existential law of physics explains the secret of weight and of spacetime. The more the luminous frequencies slow, the denser matter becomes, and the laws of attraction and cohesion we know come into play. Conversely, to rise through the stages of certainty is to return gradually to the high speeds of light, where the Self sheds the weights of matter and is freed from the fetters of density. Matter, then, is a thin veil of “frozen” or “condensed” light. It is an existential necessity for creating a theatre of possibilities: had light remained at its absolute speed, no interactive world could have arisen, and everything would be as though drowned in the sea of pure existence, with nothing individuated. Understanding this “deceleration” — as a way of bringing the concept within reach — changes how we see knowledge and action. The rabbānī Vicegerent does not see things as blank walls. He sees them as energy relatively at rest, waiting for the word of the Real to return to its first luminous motion. This is the secret of the signs, the miracles: they consist in re-accelerating these frequencies so that the nature of matter changes or its fetters dissolve. The whole of existence thus becomes a flexible mirror, reflecting the power of the Source in the blink of an eye. We live in a cosmos that is, in truth, the product of divine luminous disclosures, slowed by God, the Exalted in Degrees, as the realisation of His Names requires. Hashem Nassar All rights reserved
