The intensive reading I immersed myself in during that period was not the stuffing of memory with dry information. It was a conscious work of engineering, meant to widen the horizons of the Self and prepare it to receive the outpouring of meaning. I loaded my memory with every conflict in the tradition and every contradiction between the reports — not out of a desire to lose myself, but so that the Lord-given processor hidden in the depths of the Heart of the Self, in its kernel, could make deep and detailed connections and discover the hidden patterns and universal laws that lie behind the events of history and the surfaces of the texts. In those moments I found that human consciousness does not rise through imitation. It rises through its ability to filter out informational noise and reach the pure signal that the Creator sends to His servants at every moment. With their eloquent silence, those old manuscripts whispered to me that there are sealed files in our intellectual history that have never been opened, and that the guardians of traditional thought fear to open them, or even go near them, because they would simply expose deep cracks in the foundations of a sectarian edifice built over centuries. Thanks to those hard lessons I no longer saw the scholar or the sheikh as the one exclusive source of truth. I began to see him as a human instrument for processing knowledge, which may be right and may be wrong. The true sovereignty for which we were created requires every Self to have its own unique connection with the Highest Source, the First Source, directly, without human intermediaries who monopolise understanding or impose their guardianship on minds. From there I began my liberation from the prison of Concretion, which had confined truth to the sayings of men, and set out into the open space of Abstraction, which sees in revelation a pure formative code able to restart life with the utmost precision and beauty. The search for this pure code is, at bottom, a search for a primordial nature untainted by sectarian conflict. It raises the Self from the rank of passive recipient to the rank of the founding vicegerent, who reads God’s Written Book and His Beheld Book — Scripture and the cosmos — with the eye of insight, not merely with the eye of sight. We are embarking on a great upgrading of human consciousness, in which the text is no longer a veil but a window thrown open onto the truth that shines in every atom of existence.
