Ascensional Evolution: A Daily Training in Returning

This deep understanding revealed to me the secret of true eternal abiding. Whoever succeeds in returning in consciousness to the root origin, in a state of complete Abstraction, has joined the Living who does not die, and his eternal abiding is thus drawn, in its essence, from the eternal abiding of the First Source. The Return, in this context, is the great gateway from the narrowness of temporary disclosure to the breadth of lasting, settled existence, where illusions vanish and the film of matter lifts to reveal the essence of a connection that was never broken for a single day. I shattered the illusion of annihilation and nothingness, in their traditional sense, when I found that it is consciousness that returns, carrying its memory, its experiences and all it has gathered of knowledge and trial. The Return is, in truth, a solemn graduation from the school of the earth. That is why Ascensional Evolution stands out as a daily exercise and a constant practice of this return. In every moment of reflection and contemplation we rehearse the return to the essence, to make sure that the channels of connection are still clean and clear of the impurities of matter. The denial of separation is the essential key here. Since we are within His expanse and immersed in His sustaining power, the return is nothing more than a full awakening of attention to the Source we had neglected while busy with the dense material things that are other than Him. The words “to your Lord is the return” represent the height of beauty and the supreme platform of meeting between the Vicegerent and his Lord. True elevation shows itself in not waiting for natural death in order to return, but in practising this return with one’s heart and consciousness at the peak of one’s giving and one’s earthly life. This voluntary, conscious return is what gives the Self an impregnable immunity against the seduction and heaviness of matter. Whoever has glimpsed the Utmost Boundary and tasted the sweetness of connection finds every hardship at the start easy to bear. He moves through the world with the lightness of light and the strength of certainty, knowing that every step he takes is in truth a journey inwards, to where the Central Archive of all things lies. Ascensional Evolution is a redefinition of reality through its luminous origin. The Vicegerent who practises this daily training turns every material act into an ascent in knowledge, so that his whole life becomes a state of constant witnessing. This unbroken connection makes death a mere change of “user interface”, not of the essence of existence, and gives consciousness complete assurance that the journey is a return home, and that this path is an ascent to a higher degree of the perfection of the Real.
