The Inevitable Shirk of Every Level, and Ascensional Evolution in Reverse

To interact within any level at all, we must fall into shirk. There is no escaping it. Yet at the same time we must strive to go beyond it, by stripping our consciousness bare and understanding the degrees and levels of existence. We begin with a consciousness moulded in shirk, because of the vast gap between each level of existence and the next. Sensing this difference, at whatever level we are, forces us to draw a relative separation between ourselves and the level above — and all the more between ourselves and the absolute Source. As we move through the levels and degrees of existence, higher laws interact with us, laws joined to us from the higher degrees and ultimately from God the Absolute. We must follow these laws through the tools available to us at our own level of existence, tools that work continually to raise us towards the First Source. Within our own level, once we understand this law, we shall see in every stone and every living cell a hidden, innate longing to break free of the tether of density and return to the absolute speed of light from which it sprang. Here the concept of Ascensional Evolution (tamaʿruj) emerges in my philosophy as a process running exactly counter to condensation. If condensation depends on compressing information and confining it in material forms that need spacetime in order to appear, Ascensional Evolution is the re-acceleration of consciousness, so that it passes beyond these obstacles and touches the Origin before it becomes concretised in the moulds of matter. The body of clay is the most condensed state of the luminous Spirit, and true elevation lies in holding the key to this condensation: in knowing how to live in the density of concrete reality with a consciousness that has the fluidity of Abstraction. We are, in origin, light that slowed down in order to appear and to see itself in the mirror of creation. Our great task is to quicken our consciousness so that we return to our first origin. I shattered the illusion of separation once and for all when I found that matter and light are not warring opposites but a single gradient of frequency. Matter is simply light in a state of temporary rest, a frequency confinement of the Source’s light. This discovery led me to treat modern physics as technical testimony supporting the philosophy of Concretion and Abstraction, for it reveals the scientific fact that matter is nothing but energy under immense compression — and the rabbānī Vicegerent is the seeker who is able to release this compression through knowledge. Science is, at heart, an instrument for dismantling density. When human beings discover the laws of the atom, they invent nothing new; they discover how light “slowed down” at those points of existence so that matter could appear. It is awareness of this Ascensional Evolution that gives the Self its tranquillity. It no longer sees the material world as a prison but as a crossing, and no longer sees the body as a fetter but as the Spirit’s interactive interface. We manage our existence within this density with the certainty of one who knows that the origin is fluid and matter accidental. Every act we perform thus becomes a step towards quickening our own rhythm, until that moment when the veils dissolve and consciousness sees its seat in the expanse of the Absolute, holding fast to the pure truth that goes beyond the limits of clay to soar in the spaces of the First Light.
